Lacey knickers
The Roman Catholic Church got their knickers in a twist last year, when Polish lace-makers who are famed for making the majority of the table and alter cloths for churches, began to make lacey underwear.
The traditional lace making techniques have been retained, but it appears that, that is not enough for some people. The demand for this beutifull underwear is being pushed by the Americans, Europeans and Japanseese.
For those of you interested in purchasing some of these Koniakow run an online shop with prices listed in dollars which is good if you’re in the UK :-)
However even with this new found wealth, traditionalists are refusing to accept the changes without a fight. Priests are routinely naming women suspected of making the Stringi as they’re called during Sunday mass.
One Polish lady is quoted as saying that
“If we listened to everything the priest says, we wouldn’t earn a penny, [and] Anyway, he’ll have to come to terms with it soon. The stringi are funding his contributions.”
